– There is energy flow along the wave – Vibrations are the same amplitude and same frequency – Phase of vibration changes for different points along the wave – Particles in phase are nλ apart, n = 1, 2, 3 …. |
– No energy flow
– Amplitudes different and depend on position along the wave – Some points are permanently fixed
– Particles at distance 2λ/2 apart are in phase
