Enthalpy of formation of compounds:
The standard molar enthalpy of formation of a compound is the enthalpy change when 1 mole of the compound is formed from its elements under the standard conditions. e.g.
H2(g) + ½ O2 →H2O(l) ∆Hf,mӨ(298K) = -285.9kJmol-1
