Role/effects/importance of Cytokinins in plants

Cytokinins is a class of growth substances that promote cell division.  They do so, however in the presence of auxins.  Gibberellins may also play a role, as in the cambium.

Roles of cytokinins
  1. Promotes cell division
  2. Promotes morphogenesis
  3. Promotes the development of lateral roots
  4. Delays senescence
  5. Promotes stomata opening
