Ceteris paribus in economics

Ceteris paribus is a Latin word meaning “other factors remaining equal or constant”. It is a term used to analyze the relationship between economic variables, assuming all the  other influencing variables remain constant.

For instance, if demand for any given product exceeds the product’s supply, ceteris paribus, prices will likely rise.
