Describe an experiment which can be used to demonstrate self-induction
An iron cored coil is connected in series with a bulb, cell and switch as shown above. When K is closed, the bulb lights dimly and then its brightness is increased to maximum.
The initial current is small due to large back e.m.f due to self induction of the coil and then increases to the maximum because back e.m.f finally reduce to zero.
