How does temperature influence plant growth?
How does temperature influence plant growth?
- Temperature acts as a limiting factor in plant growth and development by influencing the rate of cell division, cell metabolism, photosynthesis, respiration, excretion etc. which directly impact on growth.
- Above or below the enzyme working range, the enzymes are denatured or inactivated respectively. In either case the reactions cease, leading to delayed/limited plant growth.
- Low temperatures stimulate flowering and germination in plants.
