Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone(ITCZ)

The Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ – pronounced “itch”) appears as a band of clouds consisting of showers, with occasional thunderstorms, that encircles the globe near the equator
Significance of  ITCZ
(i) The ITCZ is a zone of convergence of North-East and the South-East trade wind. (ii) The Northward or Southward movement of it determines the spatial distribution of rainfall.
(iii) This zone is the wettest area on the planet, which does not have a dry season
