Reaction of lead (IV) oxide with sodium hydroxide solution

The compound PbO2 reacts with the sodium hydroxide to produce the hexahydroxoplumbate (IV) ion [Pb(OH)6]2−, soluble with the water.

PbO2 +  2NaOH + 2 H2O → Na2[Pb(OH)6]
