• Cardiac muscles are myogenic, therefore heart beats at regular basis while the body is at rest
• When there is a need for more energy, the sympathetic nerves stimulate the sino-arterial to increase the rate of heart beat to increase blood supply to the body.
• When the need for energy decreases the Vegas nerve sends impulse to the heart to reduce heart rate.
