Deforestation may cause
- species extinction due to lack of shelter and food,
- reduction of soil fertility due to increased leaching and high decomposition of humus as a result of increased soil temperature of
- flooding due to removal of plant cover.
- accumulation of carbon dioxide and global warming
- soil erosion
