Deforestation may cause

• species extinction due to lack of shelter and food,
• reduction of soil fertility due to increased leaching and high decomposition of humus as a result of increased soil temperature of
• flooding due to removal of plant cover.
• accumulation of carbon dioxide and global warming
• soil erosion
